Valentine’s Day is quickly approaching, which means that you may be preparing for a date with someone new. Maybe you work together or met at a gathering of friends and want to get to know one another better, but how will you navigate your date while wearing Invisalign? If you’re worried that you’ll be embarrassed by your clear aligners, spend some time learning what you can do to stay on track while enjoying your special date.

Invisalign Facts to Calm Your Mind

If you have chosen Invisalign to straighten your teeth, you’ve already embraced the reality that it is a more discreet form of treatment that can go undetected when surrounded by others. Although you may feel self-conscious about your aligners while on a date, it’s unlikely that they will notice.

Also, when it comes to Invisalign, you can have greater peace of mind knowing that you can remove your aligners to eat and drink, making it easy to converse and consume your favorite meal. This is drastically different than traditional metal braces that not only stick out like a sore thumb but also make eating more difficult because of the potential for food to get stuck between brackets and wires.

Ways to Navigate a Date While Wearing Invisalign

As you get ready for the evening, keep the following tips in mind as you enjoy your time with someone new:

  • Make sure to bring a protective case. When arriving at the restaurant, excuse yourself so that you can go to the restroom and remove your aligners. After placing them in their protective case, you can feel more confident knowing they’re safe while you enjoy your meal.
  • Bring a travel-sized toothbrush and toothpaste with you. Once you’re finished eating, return to the bathroom to clean your teeth and trays. You’ll want to reinsert them before you leave so that you don’t run the risk of delaying your treatment.

It’s important that while you may want to hide your Invisalign treatment from your date, remember that you’re working toward a straighter, healthier smile, so you have nothing to be embarrassed about. If the person you’re with has an issue with your clear aligners, you may want to rethink joining them for a second date.

The results you can expect to see when you’re finished with Invisalign will make every moment of treatment worthwhile, so don’t worry too much in the meantime. Instead, look forward to the new smile that awaits you and enjoy the process as it unfolds.
